Good $LC_DEITY! Antibiotics are all toxic, you don’t want to take them unless you’ve got an infection, or at least a confirmed exposure to a susceptible agent. And antidotes to chemo agents are worse: pyridostigmine, pradiloxime, atropine are all deadly poisons if you don’t have what they’re treating. (They’re in the belladonna family - as in, what Agrippina the Younger used to poison Claudius, or Macbeth served to the Danish army in the reign of Duncan.) No wonder they had health problems!
I suspect that he’s never had to deal with reality because he surrounds himself with sycophants and yes-men who tell him how great he is and how profound his childishly simplistic ideas are.
Cheetolini’s body may be 73 years old, but he has the mind of a spoiled child who has never been slapped, corrected, or forced to grow up. When he carelessly breaks something, someone else will clean it up. When he tells an obvious lie, someone else will take the heat or divert attention away from it.
Hell, he was probably encircled by a pack of yes-boys as a child.
Good 'ol PB tablet’s. The goal was to condition the body to low doses of insecticides in the hope it would cause resistance to G-series nerve agents.
I remember getting the memo directing to destroy all stocks, then to destroy the memo.
IIRC, there were some experimental immunoglobulins in the mix as well. There was a subgroup with some nasty autoimmune diseases…
Is that why the mention of TGN1412 brought it to mind? Gadzooks!
Yup.
That, and a lifetime of being a professional bullshitter. Fabricating realities about his buildings, his business in general - a different story for every context, one set of numbers for the bank, one for the IRS. (Heck, also about himself, his family - pretending to be Swedish because he thought it sounded better than being of German descent - everything.) He’s spent a life where “facts” were just whatever was most useful at that particular moment.
But I think it’s more than habit. Beyond his cognitive decline in recent years, from what I’ve read, he’s always had a problem with facing reality. Reading stories about his building projects in the '80s, where he’d be unhappy with something, demand it changed, be told why that was impossible, but every time he returned to the building, he’d make the demand again. He always seems to have had some significant cognitive issues…
What reduces healthcare spending in that final year is discussing end of life issues with the doctor (prognosis, hospice, heroic measures, DNRs, living wills, etc.) and giving the patient the information they need to make decisions about levels of care. Obamacare originally had a provision that would make such discussions (initiated by the patient by the way) covered by Medicare. When they have all the info, people tend to choose things like hospice and palliative care over being put on a ventilator. Some Republicans took this provision and twisted it into their “death panels” talking point. It was ultimately not included in the final version of the ACA, so we’re still not having those discussions and continue to pay for levels of care some of these patients don’t want.
I also fear for homeless populations.
Particularly where they are densest,
places like LA, Portland, Seattle…
It isn’t about his unique history and characteristics. There isn’t anything special about him. He’s the same as every other malignant narcissist.
He also recently suggested that sick people still go to work. A real fountain of great medical advice, that one.
His m.n. certainly causes a “distortion and denial of reality,” but he’s got significant issues beyond that. He has serious cognitive problems that leave him fully detached from reality, even in situations where his m.n. isn’t coming into play.
I can only make guesses about those people. To me, they seem to be kind of self-stupifying. I know everything better than everyone…I don’t need to learn anything! I don’t need to analyze the details of a situation…I go with my gut!
It is true that he isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I keep reading, every time he visits Ireland or the UK, how he doesn’t know what countries those are. Every time, it obviously gets explained to him (at least three or four times, now) that e.g. Ireland and Northern Ireland are separate countries, and what countries make up the UK, and every time he forgets. He’s simply not capable of learning facts at all.
Trump’s mother was Scottish (and her first language was Scottish Gaelic), so she surely tried her best to make him understand the basics of British Isles geography.
The Trump clan doesn’t strike me as one that encourages the womenfolk to have their own opinions or presume to educate the male members of the family.
But Mary Trump is said to have been a strong-willed woman and proud to be Scottish.
I understand she once helped organize a lynch mob to hunt down Edward Scissorhands.
It’s not treatment, but it is something.
