It probably depends on the region. You have enough solid party support, it won’t matter what happens. Regions that depend on moderates and independents for wins can’t afford to play so loose with it. I am wondering how Mass looks in that respect.

IIRC the hebrew word for Virgin actually means maiden or young girl which given the time period strongly implies teenager.

Pondering the mental gymnastics surrounding this one.

I think it is that the Hebrew word for “young woman” was translated to the Greek “virgin” by the author(s)/editors of Matthew to tie into Isaiah rather than there being no appropriate word.
