Trump's threat: 'Get rid of the ballots' — 'there won't be a transfer, frankly, there will be a continuation'

Yeah, the UN doesn’t do that. The federal government would need to ask for competent observers to reassure the country and the world that the US elections aren’t rigged. There are lots of really good reasons why a country would do this but never forget this regime has declared its right to commit war crimes. It has literally declared that international human rights jurists are terrorists subject to arrest in the US.

I am also 2 generations removed from National Socialism, but growing up in Germany or Austria there is no way of getting around learning how it came to be to some degree and knowing the stink of it.

My unsolicited 2c: I, too have the impression that the US is on a steep descent into chaos and possibly armed conflict right now (how observant of me). I hope you guys can turn it around but to be honest, I think the different partisan and ideological camps in your country have completely forgotten how to talk with each other and that can only lead to violence. Getting rid of Trump is one obvious step, but that won’t solve your problems by a long shot. He is just one glaring symptom of the cancer.

That’s a hopeful analysis. I hope it is accurate.

Yeah, you’ll never get him to answer that, because he will never accept the premise of the hypothetical.

Plus, he can’t resist teasing reporters. He knows how badly they just want him to make a “normal” statement, so he can’t do it. Just like he won’t wear a mask. “You can’t make me!” His only motivations are: his ego, his wallet, his penis. If an action is requested of him that does not benefit one of those three things, he’s not going to be compliant. In fact, it benefits his ego to not answer the “annoying” reporter asking “nasty” questions.

I agree. Yes, loony.

It took a while but what has been obvious to external viewers is now becoming the fact. Your gold-plated iron-clad Constitution, alas, means SFA.

Seems like the ONLY hope for the USA is if the democrats keep the House and take the Senate and impeachment 2.0 kicks in, this time ending with his removal.

If Republicans continue to hang with this “President”… then perhaps they should?

Will Biden be the next president… or will Trump be the first emperor?

I remember when President Carter was asked what his plans were for after the election if he was not re-elected. The very first thing he said was, “if I do not win the election I would of course abide by the wishes of the American people.” And then went on to say his plan was to win.

I’d like to see him frog-marched out of the White House in handcuffs. I know it will never happen, but I’d like to see that.

I certainly can’t pretend that I have the only right answer, but I think sending money to races that are tight and winnable matters a lot, I think volunteering for campaigns for GOTV efforts makes a difference, and working in state & local races can make a proportionately big difference.

I don’t think everyone can or should be out on the street right now, but I do think that we have to recognize that if things go the way they’re threatening to go, we’re going to be faced with a choice about whether to accept a coup, and what we’ll demand as consequences for those who attempted/abetted it.

I don’t see why he can’t be a senile old guy who does not understand what he’s questioned about, AND a fascist. Most fascists are not the sharpest knives in the drawer, the more you understand about the world, the less likely you are to be a fascist.

Trump is a one-trick pony: he can draw in anyone’s attention again and again, blinding both sides, one side wants to believe in his bullshit and is falling for the con, and the other side wastes the energy and the focus in talking about Trump instead of do something.

Reminds me of The Man Who Taught His Asshole to Talk

The USA is a failed state that still has a substantial market of goods and services. Once that marked has collapsed further, nobody will give a shit about the US, they won’t even bother to piss it off.

There might be a window of opportunity. Since you mention bigfoot, in the film “The Man Who Killed Hitler, and Then the Bigfoot”, said man explains that the man died, but the monster lived on.. (Here’s a good review with spoilers elaborating on that.

That is one way, but before that there’s a lot more things that can be done right now, like paying felon’s fines so that they can vote. Also I guess that social media campaigns might help, just like the one that helped secure Trump’s presidency, or Brexit. Probably expensive and illegal, but I wouldn’t care much about that, since word is already out that the election is rigged, there is nothing to lose, right.

Also if we no longer let Trump dominate the discourse (pun intended), that would go a long way.

The good thing is, that like all his “plans”, it pretty much relies on wishful thinking and ignorance of the facts. So in the end, it might not work out that way for him.

As Teri Kanefield pointed out, Trump wants the headline to be “Trump can steal the election”. Let’s not fall for that con.

Did we read the same thread?

She explicitly explains why the scenario is unlikely

(4) The election would have to come down to a few states in which the elected officials were willing to go against the will of their voters and against their own laws.
(5) They’d have to break the laws (and defy their voters) for Trump.
(6) The courts would have to allow it.

And she explains why that is besides the point anyway: Trump wants us to believe he can steal the election, because that “transformed himself from a loser (in the polls) to a scary strongman”, and he’s controlling the conversation.

I’ve been saying that when push comes to shove, the NYT will be all in for Trump. And now they are.

So, let’s track the chain of events:

  1. For months, rail about the illegitimacy of mail-in ballots.

  2. Appoint a Postal Service Director who intentionally slows down the mail.

  3. Argue that any ballots that arrive after election day shouldn’t be valid.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Mass-Murdering Traitor Trump is doing what he’s always done: he’s playing with our lives, and as a sociopath he doesn’t give a flying fornication at a rolling donut how many people die. Why should he? He’s already slaughtered more than 200,000 of us.

It’s been gone over enough, I am not going to go through it again. Refer to the section on the electoral college. None of her points as to why it couldn’t happen seem the least bit unlikely to me.
