Tucker Carlson and Fox parting ways after $787.5 million goof

Alongside Steven Seagal.

I’m wondering if it was one of the stipulations in the settlement with Dominion.

It could have been Fox simply deciding to let go of someone who had become a liability, but I like to imagine that Dominion wouldn’t settle unless they chopped him.

I any case, it simply means that a rich asshole has to find somewhere else to be an asshole. I’m old enough to know that justice often isn’t served in this world, but I’m hopeful that at least he’ll be standing on a shorter platform and holding a smaller megaphone.

Good on ya, Lauren! It’s an outrage to see a private company make its own employment decision like this. So will you also be foregoing your job, or just staying off the air out of solidarity?

It’s worth noting that OANN was created by AT&T executives in 2013 to be part of Direct TV, and was funded at least 90% by AT&T/DirectTV for a good while. So them getting dropped was pretty significant given their history in creating Herring’s business.

think Hmmm. Maybe mr swanson can move in with mr seagull, instead of that London flatshare w/mr lemongrab what I’d earlier suggested.

Yeah, I’d be kinda worried if I was Hannity or Ingram, especially, since they were named in the suit.

You don’t shoot your golden goose just because you lose 1/16th of far more money than anyone could ever need.

I’m just over here waiting for the seagull to grab a lemon and fly off while singing its swan song. :dove:

Oh for Goddess’s sake, what a shameless attention-grabber.

His antics must have the rest of the Kennedys either spinning in their graves or choking on their caviar.

I said hi to Andy Borowitz on the 1 train once on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, years ago. Knew it was him 'cause he was taking a kid to a school event and had a name tag on.

Said something along the lines of “Mr. Borowitz, you are doing God’s work.”

Thoughts and prayers to you Tucker, a chode among chodes. Still hoping for Giant Meteor to arrive and take out all of Fox News, the Murdochs, OAN, NewsMax, et al.

I do hope she stands with him soon.
Out of a job, out in the street.
I don’t really care where they stand, just make it further away.

I wonder what this will do to Fox’s - and Tucker’s audiences. He’s their most popular host, so what happens to their ratings? Tucker will find many places eager for him to work there, but will they have remotely the same kind of reach that Fox does (or salary budget)?

Fox will come up with a replacement–God knows who. I’m not familiar enough with all the other Foxers in the kennel to make a guess. When O’Reilly left Fox he lost much of his huge influence on public discourse. The same will likely happen to Carlson. Then again, when O’Reilly left Fox Carlson took his place and built up an even greater influence than O’R had. This suggests the New Guy has a chance to continue Carlson’s villainy. All that said, I still think we are entitled to celebrate this scumbag’s removal regardless of who follows him.
