Tucker Carlson was fired by Rupert Murdoch

Well respected? Sure, by rich white men.

The WSJ reporting (as contrasted with its deranged op-ed pages) is very straightforward and neutral. The same goes for The Economist’s journalism. Yes, there’s an underlying editorial assumption in both outlets that “free”-market globalist capitalism is the best and only system. However, both also sell themselves as objective “news you can use” for serious business executives and investors and can’t let the ideology overcome that lucrative mission.

Faux and its imitators are all ideology, with the details of even the most straightforward story spun to serve their right-wing populist agenda.

Wall Street Journal? This Murdoch owned Wall Street Journal?

Fair enough. I refer to the news coverage of the WSJ, rather than the editorial pages.

It is true that these outlets are by and for rich white men. I apologize for implying otherwise. Unfortuantely, I don’t know of any conservative information outlets with journalistic standards that aren’t by and for rich white men though, or that have respect for factual reporting.

There’s everything wrong with it, because it’s wrong.

“It’s not that simple!!”

It is, though.

Besides fascism, the article points out that the lawsuits exposed Carlson’s misogyny, and insubordination.

In her federal court filing, Grossberg described the work environment of Carlson’s show as one that “subjugates women based on vile sexist stereotypes” as well as “typecasts religious minorities and belittles their traditions.”

[quoting Bian Stelter of Vanity Fair] Hundreds of pages of emails and text messages from within Fox were published in Dominion’s pre-trial legal filings. But there is a huge number of other pages that remain out of public view. The redactions were voluminous. Only three groups of people know what those pages contain: Dominion’s lawyers, Fox’s top executives, and obviously the people who were sending and receiving the messages. So what was Carlson saying about, say, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott? What was he texting about the Murdochs? We don’t know. We may never know.

The thing that concerns me about this quick exit of Carlson is whether or not he decides to take any other network’s offer to work for them. Daily Wire is the likely candidate for this fail son of the Swanson fortune. I don’t see him going away any time soon.

REMEMBER WHEN! We will be spending much of the day throwing at your face some of our favorite old Tucker Carlson posts, or at least the ones Evan linked to yesterday, because that is a nice cheat sheet to start with. This post has one million posts INSIDE IT, because it was our New Year’s Eve in Tucker for 2022.

I’m hoping that between the Smartmatic and the Grossberg lawsuits, more will come out. Also if Fox and Carlson get seriously adversarial, they may spill a lot of dirt about each other. There is, after all, a LOT of dirt.

Pushing white supremacist conspiracy theories is not “a conservative bent”… it’s pushing lies. They laid the ground work for Trump, not the other way around.

Fox news NEEDS to go, as it’s long been a propaganda channel for the far right, who are not interested in democracy or informing the public, but in spreading lies and pushing for autocracy.

fuck that.
