Remember folks: The shit that they say in private is even worse than the shit that they say in public. Much worse.

The Murdochs will always toss aside their cash cows the moment they become liabilities. It happened with Falafel and Beck and even Ailes. Of course, the extreme threshold of depravity (or, alternately, the cardinal conservative sin of getting caught) one of these scumbags has to cross to be discarded as a “business decision” says a lot about the Murdochs themselves.

Unrevealed or… revealed?

Unrevealed (as of yet).

With all the discovery phase, it is bizarre that this didn’t worry them until the eve of the trial. :man_shrugging:

While the headline is correct, I have to admit that ‘unrevealed’ threw me off as well. Guess I just don’t come across it in use very often. So thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious!

He’s spent his entire career failing upward, so a run for president doesn’t seem out of the question now.

The Guardian is reporting this:

On Wednesday, Carlson shared a cryptic two-minute video on his Twitter account that did not explain his exit, but offered sweeping complaints about the state of American discourse. He said what he noticed “when you step away from the noise for a few days,” is how nice some people are.

“The other thing you notice when you take a little time off is how unbelievably stupid most of the debates you see on television are”

This is the man who used prime time TV to talk about the attractiveness of the green M&M.

Same with The News of the World here in the UK when it was found to have systematically listened to the voice mail of a murdered child and hindered a police investigation. The story became so appalling that the Murdoch’s closed it almost overnight.

But the Murdochs didn’t change - they almost immediately turned the repellent ‘Sun’ into a seven day a week horror show. The good news is that despite that, declining circulations and continued fall out from phone hacking means that News International has written the value of ‘The Sun’ down to - zero.

His decision to now take the “both sides are equally bad” stance sounds like he’s trying to look like he’s standing up for his principles while at the same time avoiding the release of that dirt file Fox has on him.

How ironic. Tucker Carlson has two sides and they really are both equally bad.

the tone of the headline and snippet makes it sound like it doesn’t matter that he got canned. but i think that even if he’s replaced with someone equally or more vile - it’s still a good thing that he’s gone.

these people thrive on unaccountability. forcing them to reckon with the consequences of their actions is a good thing. ( the more, of course, the merrier )

By “… when you take a little time off…” he means the several days since he was fired? Definitely enough time for him to seriously reflect. Well, maybe as seriously as he ever will.

And naturally the coarsening of public discourse has nothing to do with him.

What an ass.

Carlson already has amazing things on the record, including him taking a sexual interest in his underage daughter’s friends and defending statutory rape.

What the actual living fuck?

Yeah, it seems like the real reason he was let go is because he was such a massive liability that insurers wouldn’t cover him and his inevitable lawsuit losses.

Probably because the issue wasn’t this trial but future trials specifically around his behavior in the workplace.

If you pay attention to what Tucker says on the air, that’s a pretty common - and frequent - reaction…
