Michael Mansfield seems to have done ok.
Although he did have the advantage of starting his career when there was still legal aid.

And his successes may be a large part of why we no longer have much in the way of legal aid.

Itâs a bit like how free university education post war and the RSC and arts funding and all that and you had a bunch of working class English actors who became gods of the stage and screen.
And now, well now there is a cookie cutter type for breakthrough English actors and they tend to be very privately educated with voices that could cut glass.
