To hear him talking on BBC’s R4 Today this morning one feared for his mind. There seemed more than a little disconnection.

I have said before that Cleese reminds me of my alcoholic uncle who did not notice how he slowly but steadily went from irreverently witty to asshole sadsack as he declined.

I saw someone on another forum say today that this might be Cleese’s Giuliani moment

There was a delightful interview with Eric Idle in The Guardian the other day (urgh, I hate myself because it really does have some great writers but their TERFy views are horrendous. Even though I actually understand exactly how they ended up there.)

What does he think when he hears Cleese claiming that comedians are no longer free to make jokes without fear of being cancelled? “He’s who he is now. The thing I try to remember is the good times when we were young and funny. And we are no longer those people or speaking to today’s generation. We’re old farts. We should be left to go quietly to bed and watch the telly.” He giggles.

Don’t think I’ve ever heard that word on the news or even current affairs show before. The explanation at the end is great.

It’s a shame this arrived after PMQs this week because the temptation for Starmer to start with “Back again? Dear, oh dear” would have been huge.

So, in some ways, is Gillian Tett. Her brief eye-roll at the very beginning after Krishnan references Jacob Rees-Mogg also said ‘bollocks’, most eloquently.

Truss is losing the support of the crazification factor. At this rate the only people who will approve of her performance are the people who would approve of anyone with (Con) next to their name, even if that person was Joseph Stalin or Jack the Ripper.
