Unable to catch her breath, Marjorie Taylor Greene says "masking children is child abuse"

Or, maybe mask wearing will just be part of normal life from now on. Have a cold? Wear a mask if you have to be out. It’s just polite.

My thoughts are this: as unstable and dysfunctional people like MTG continue to use their undeserved social power to deflect from actual child abuse and child exploitation while touting conspiracy theories and vapid hyperbole, actual child abuse will become worse while at the same time innocent people will continue to be scapegoated. Abusers will be unable to accept responsibility and will need to shift blame. More children will be traumatized by their parents’ extreme incoherent rage about masks than will be traumatized by masks themselves. We already live in a world where people expect their kids to be shot to death while sitting in class, after all. And now people who think that’s just fine are looking for excuses.

My parents remember polio as children, fears of using public pools, and the basic miracle of the Salk vaccine. They did not contract polio, and knew people not as lucky. Not only did they get fully C19-vaxxed as soon as possible, but they’ve also spent their lives not being traumatised by swimming.

The kids will be all right. MTG clearly ain’t.

That would be fine too! Sort of like seat belts, eliminating the forehead impaling rear view mirrors, and helmets while bicycling. (All of which have been vilified in much the same way as masks, of course.)

That might work, if she wasn’t actually a congresswoman.

It’s so strange. People keep saying that so often. Does it really make that much sense to them?

Like at this time if some one hasn’t taken the opportunity to stop and think about how long ago the ship sailed (hint: it was before she became a part of our government) then I don’t know what to make of that. Now people have to actually work to get rid of her.
