I was only 4 at the time myself, but it’s one of those touchstone images and memes that everyone seems to be familiar with. Watching that video was very enlightening for me as well, so thank you for sharing it.
(Side note on that video, it’s even clearer to me now that Republican strategists have been playing this handbook for decades, and Sam Donaldson just sitting there blithely ignoring the role that the media—and he himself, starting with those remarks from the convention floor in '88—played in validating and amplifying the underhanded dirty work that the Bush campaign did while talking about what a shame it is that Republicans are so much better at having a knife fight in an arena given to them by the media is just outright infuriating. Also fuck that Republican strategist whining about biased media when they gave his guy’s campaign free reign to repeatedly assassinate the character of their opponent on the national airwaves.)

Yes, interesting both in retrospect but also in light of the current situation and election. Fuck I’m so worried about this election.
I hate guns but a voice in the back of my head is starting to suggest it might be good to have a few before November. I can’t believe I typed that but there it is. I most likely won’t. But that I am even considering it is fucking bonkers.
