So gratifying to see that the Trump name has gone from something businesses would pay top dollar to be associated with to something worth (checks notes) negative $100 Million.

I’d really like to see the breakdown of that by origin. He was a laughing stock everywhere.

Like, come on.

Who the f*** EVER thought to themselves “Wow, it’s Trump and Trump is such a cool guy and great businessman! To me, this Trump brand means luxury of an exceptional quality, and that’s why I’ve chosen to stay at this Trump hotel!!!”

I really want to know who these people are.

Personally, if you asked me any time in the past several decades whether I’d stay in a Trump branded hotel, I’d say HELL NO because I’m afraid of contracting some kind of rash or genital warts from the sheets.

In his civil fraud trial, Trump has repeatedly argued that his properties are worth far more than a standard valuation would suggest because they’re associated with the incredibly valuable Trump brand.

Businesses that once licensed the Trump name have been trying to scrub the Trump cooties off their properties since the first years of his presidency, so it’s a little hard to see how that claim holds up. Even if you could make a case for it being true in the past, you certainly couldn’t today.

Donald Trump was right - his name is worth a lot of money. To all the people being paid to rebrand the properties to something else, granted, but…

It USED to be associated with being nice venues. But IMO it has been many many years since the Trump name has been synonymous with “nice things”.

Those who still think that probably can’t afford to stay there/know better.

I hope they didn’t let him or Melania do the decor. Clearing out all that dictator chic and vampire moderne is going to be quite a task if they did.

They should rename them the Ozymandias Hotels.

7 years is a “mad dash”?

Perhaps. But, trust me on this, you do not want to meet them.

Before he ran for president I thought of him as a tacky laughing stock. So I don’t think I would have expected uncleanliness, just a hotel with a décor and full of people that I really don’t care for, in the same way I wouldn’t stay in a Kardashian branded hotel.

Their political careers await. The very little I know of them makes me think that will be as horrible as the orange one’s.

The Trump Castle Casino Hotel…

Yes, they actually shot up a sound stage at Cinecittá, but one can dream.

I agree. And he has had several venues failed. But at one point it still meant something positive to enough people that people went there.

He has always banked on his name and illusion as some brilliant millionaire. For most people that image soured once he became more public like on the Apprentice, and for even more people when he got into politics. I have no idea how it’s not a turn off for most people and they aren’t losing money hand over fist. But maybe it’s one of those things where there are X number of hotel rooms in the area and people have to stay there as the other options are full.

I am just saying general attitude about him and his places 20 years were way different. I know it was for me, I had a more or less neutral opinion about the man, and I would have assumed a Trump hotel was “nice”. But I am also not someone who really knows what “nice” is.

Other than the time I stayed at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. I was a fish out of water. This is where the King and Queen would stay when in town. I had access to the VIP level I ate my first oyster and had cheese and crackers of exotic origins I had never seen before. I was a memorable experience.
