That flash couldn’t have been causing any more problems other than pushing an asshole into doing something asshole like.

Yeah, they are a metal band, but the singer’s voice is powerful enough to be heard clearly over the guitar, bass, and drums. Not as clearly as Queensryche’s singer (I think a former opera singer…or current depending on your views of operation:livecrime), but still very clear.

I understand it was an iPhone - in other words, the fan was holding it wrong.
In my mind this has nothing to do with flashing or interfering with the performance.
This righteous kick may very well have saved us from another vertical video.

Am I right in thinking that “flash” in this context means “the annoyingly bright LED next to the phone camera used to illuminate the subject”?

Well, perhaps people whose entire life is on their cell phone should think about that before a) taking it to a metal concert, b) taking it to the front of the concert where all the nutters traditionally congregate, c) waving it around or d) using it to annoy the band.

Yeah, but from their point of view they are performing for you. The least you can do is give them your undivided attention.

If I get an unsafe level of power holding a lit screen above your head so you can get photos and video you will NEVER EVER LOOK AT will be punishable with a single bullet to the hindbrain.
of course, the choice to film something means they DO have my attention. i never film for more than a minute or so anyway.

Cause I see them all the time, even when I’m on a brightly lit stage. The utra-bright led flash of most smartphones , especially the ‘continuously-on-while-filming’ variant actually hurts my eyes and leads to bright green spots in my vision for minutes afterwards.
And that, I believe, is why you are not The Metal God.

So it is the photographer’s fault they were assaulted and someone else could have been injured by an airborne phone?
The usual personal rights lib rage on this page has suddenly dissapeared, apparently because “phones at concerts” is now a reason to damage other people property??
How about if you dont like phones at concerts, then only go to shows where they are not allowed. Assault isnt an answer.

I said that you CAN NOT see a flash from the camera which got kicked.
I said that YOU CAN see cameras even when they’re not flashing.
