"Weapons-grade femininity"

Speaking as not an actual lesbian, I had that same reaction and may have shouted that same thing with a similarly horrified expression. In fact I just shuddered a little here.

Well that seems only logical!

Best Response:

Alamo Drafthouse added more women only showings of Wonder Woman in response to MRA feeling butthurt over having to wait a few more days to ogle lovely Gal Gadot.

Hedy Lamarr invented Wi-Fi and was not a corrupt politician played by Harvey Korman.

She was also inspiration for an awesome villain on Agent Carter.

Guys, this is why we can’t have nice things.

##“It’s Hedley!”

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Yes, Hedy Lamarr was an amazing woman, whose story is mostly unsung.

He appears to be a 71yo lawyer in St. Louis, MO. I wonder if he has ever been to Texas in his life.

Very apt answer. What movie was that?

I think that was one of the Austin Powers movies

As far as I can tell “manybellsdown” was never asked for an opinion either…

Edit: why was this post hidden “by community flags”? I was just pointing out out to quorihunter that he did nothing beyond what all members of this BBS routinely do. How many flags does it take for such a post to be automatically hidden?

I just happened to watch her in King Vidor’s “Comrade X” recently – talk about star power! Her beauty and charisma reach past the screen and the decades to pull you in like few other performers from the time. And her career in the golden age of movies is almost a side note when placed next to her scientific achievements and
her fascinating personal story.

@TooGoodToCheck_ beat me to it but it was inspired by one of my favorite Italian sci-fi / just watch it for the sets and costumes movies, The Tenth Victim at the end of the opening scene where we wind up at a Club Masoch…

Seriously though… Ursula Andress, Marcello Mastroianni, groovy soundtrack by Piero Piccioni, what is not to love?

The original is even better!

Of course, simply saying to take responsibility is obvious, but I think it still gets said because it is far more easily said than done. Most people appear to have a far easier time taking responsibility for their tangible observable actions than they do their immediate subjective feelings. This kind of self-awareness is tricky because one is trying to be aware of changes to one’s feeling, while also being the person who changes at the same time. That’s just a quirk of human perception and not a dig at you personally.

All people I find have some areas where they are able to summon a degree of detachment to know that somebody is trying to influence how they feel, without feeling instantly compelled to respond accordingly, just observing and noticing that “SoAndSo is probably only saying X to get me feeling Y.” But there are either subjects or people who sneak under our defenses, and we can still find ourselves having unthinkingly reacted. Because the stakes are high, or because we desperately want something to be true/false because of our personal needs. But what it is or who it is, and how we react, vary considerably from person to person.

If it’s so “obvious,” then why are you even here; futilely tilting at windmills, ad nauseum?

Yet, you’re still at it, though; aren’t you?

If you really want to see “Weapons Grade Femininity,” go watch Wonder Woman; it’s a great flick.

And yeah:

Nobody else is responsible for your reactions to others except YOU.

Captain Obvious sends his regards.

I don’t think WW counts though, because at no point does she deliberately use her feminine wiles to distract or manipulate men. She’s totally unconcerned as to how her appearance affects them.

I saw some weapons-grade femininity in downtown PDX yesterday, and it was damn inspiring! So many badass women ready to defend pdx from alt-right fascists, holding it down, my partner among them. I was worried for her when I left the scene and she stuck around, not because of what someone might do, but for the fire in her eyes as she calmly walked back into the chaos. Woe be the fascist that crosses her path!

I kinda meant the fact that she IS the weapon…
