Note the tinge of sarcasm to play it off as “just jokes”.
The only silver lining I have seen to this CPAC is how much of a ghost town it is compared to previous years.
Will these non MAGA conservative Republicans still vote? Will enough of the stay home? If the Republicans keep losing are they going to correct course? Who knows…

That was my thought at first too. I then watched the context. I think he was serious. It is hard to see on this video but when he says he will replace it with this, he holds up a cross.

As @CLamb points out above, he was not holding up a fist. He was holding up a cross. It looks like it might have been a cross on a rosary.
I detected no sarcasm. Maybe a little right at the beginning, but he made it abundantly clear that he’s not joking one bit, especially by holding up that cross at the end. This is Christian Nationalism, and they’re going all in on it. They are now being open about not caring about Democracy or the Constitution.
