"Welcome to the end of democracy" says pro-Trump speaker on stage at CPAC (video)

It should be their modern day equivalent of “Carthago delenda est.”

Maybe he’s episcopalian/anglican?

I can only hope that it doesn’t “go” like a dead beached whale and explode its festering guts all over the rest of us.

Perhaps paid bogus window dressing? Look! Priests are with us!

These street nazis seem to always just stand there as cool as cucumbers, as if they think they’re surrounded by a force field. That sense of righteous invulnerability is a weakness that must be exploited every single time.

Roman Catholic church law allows a married episcopalian/anglican priest to convert to Catholicism and remain married and become a Catholic priest.

One can only hope.

“That’s a big Twinkie!”

Oh, that makes the right kind of twisted sense for these arseholes. A Trump Cross rather than a Tau Cross (CPAC is definitely not interested in the Greater Good).

I don’t know - he might still be OK with it. After all, anyone you put in prison is exempt and the’ve already said how excited they are about imprisoning people.

I’m currently reading “The Strawberry Thief” by Joanne Harris. (It’s a sequel to “Chocolat”).

On p20 there is a sentence that sums up for me all that the modern GOP stands for.

I’ll quote it in its entirety:

“She is one of those women Armande Voizin used to call ‘Bible groupies’, all smiles in church, but cold and sour when dealing with the socially deprived.”

Honestly, there’s a dozen threads I could have posted this in.

Just a reminder that David “Axis of Evil” Frum is an unrepentant cheerleader for the deaths of thousands, and in context that quote was more about how we should care about the poor Republicans feeling like their values are rejected than that we need to stop them. It’s a good pithy quote, as are some of the things Liz Cheney has said…but we shouldn’t forget who people like them actually are.

Yeah, kind of like Karl Rove complaining that Republican campaigning has gotten too sleazy.

Yeah the whole “establishment Republicans vs. MAGA” divide always reminds me of the old “Joker vs. Red Skull” bit…
