Buddy, I have wasted a lot more money on a lot stupider things.
This was so entertaining it brought the wife into the drama in the third act just before the finale and she was fascinated. She thinks we’re all mental, but fascinated nevertheless.

Negative results are an immense accomplishment that never seems to be recognized. Finding out what things aren’t, what things aren’t caused by, what things don’t cure, etc., etc., is foundational to understanding the universe. Negative test results add to the body of human knowledge immensely.
Don’t think of this as finding nothing. Instead, consider what a small investment to find out all the millions of things that weren’t in the safe. If someone in ten years wants to know if there was a milkshake, or a severed head, or a half-eaten banana in the safe, you can firmly say that your work established that none of those things were there. On the million million things people might look for in that safe, you are now the go-to authority.
I, for one, applaud and thank you for your contribution to human knowledge.
