What You'll Like Most When Trump is Gone

I will enjoy not hearing his smug voice every time I turn on the news. But more importantly, the wrongs can start to be righted.

What will YOU enjoy after he’s gone?

All of the good supreme court decisions that respect stare decisis and precedent and follow an established legal theory instead of conservative dogma.

Wait…

I also will enjoy the silence. His voice is the equivalent of fingernails on chalkboard for me. When he speaks, he reminds me of a monotone 2nd grader who has been called upon to read aloud to the rest of his class.

Mostly, I’ll enjoy having a boring president.

It’s not his voice specifically. It’s the fact that he talks like a psychopath. Every “sentence” he speaks is tailored to the best of his ability to pass blame and self aggrandize.

Like… gone gone?

The possibility of, some day, going for an entire whole day without ever once thinking of that motherfucker.

And the way he moves, like a Chuck-E-Cheese marionette that mice have been nibbling the wires.

For me, it’s the voice. He speaks like his development has been stunted. And every time he speaks I think, this is the best we came up with?

I expect—or at least hope—that waking up to a world where Trump is no longer President might feel like taking off a pair of ill-fitting ski boots that you’ve been wearing so long you forget what it was like to be able to feel your toes.

Or maybe a chastity belt, but I don’t have firsthand experience with what those feel like.

Its not Trump per se, if he were just some dude ranting on a street corner it would be one thing. What I will like is when his horrible and insane cultists go away, or settle down, or (extremely unlikely I know) develop a sense of shame. One person like Trump is one thing. A whole mob of them is a whole nother thing. Now if THEY would just go away somehow…

I mean all this water under the bridge, and I’m still shaking my head in disbelief, where do these people come from? Why do they exist? I mean seriously, WTF? It like, makes no sense, does not compute, is existentially absurd and violates all the known laws of science, man, and god. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??? I’ve been yelling to myself for 4 years now, and I long for the day when that interior shriek will quiet.

I’m not optimistic it ever will…

I’ll be glad my daughter will have one less thing to stress about. She was sure that she would be hauled off to some conversion camp in the middle of the night. Nothing a high-schooler should be fearful about.

Not having things like politics and the minutiae of government being an all consuming thing for me will be very welcome. That doesn’t mean a lack of activism or anything, but, fuck, just a chance to breathe a little without every hour being yet another horrible crisis will be wonderful.

Amen. I dream of boring. I don’t expect to see it anytime soon, but “interesting” lost it’s attraction for me long ago, like the 50 years or so that have passed since January. Or the century since 2017. Sigh, maybe someday, but for now I will settle for a bit less terrifying.

Not starting every morning opening the news with “damage report” as the first thought in my brain and I sure won’t miss my stomach twisting every time I see how many trump headlines are in my BB.

I love all these responses! Everyone is entitled to their own form of relief.

For the record, we all know that the work will go on. The good fight isn’t over. But tommorow, it’s important to stop, take a breath, give thanks, celebrate. We have been living through nothing short of a nightmare.

The absence of rage. Really looking forward to that.

Yeah, and not seeing his ugly face in every damn news feed. And not hearing the ignorant vomit that escaped his lie hole every minute of the day.

I can now imagine what it must have been like to find out that Hitler was dead. While trump is unfortunately not dead he’ll be dead to all us.

Seeing my enemies crushed, and hearing the lamentations of their women.

LOL, sorry, making a funny, but really, seeing my enemies crushed, and hearing the lamentations of their women.

Sometime in the last four years it occurred to me that no matter what else happens, after he dies the nation’s flags will be flown at half-mast in his “honor.” For a brief few moments I was annoyed. Then I realized that I was very much looking forward to seeing Trump honored in that way.

I dunno. He’ll be gone, but his followers will still be about. I won’t be able to properly relax until I’m shut of them, too.

I have always been an avid reader of the news, but I do not enjoy poring through articles looking for augurs of things to come, nor checking in with multiple news sites every few hours to see if the end really is upon us. I will enjoy not feeling a compulsion to do so.

I remember during the Obama years, I would check the news only once per day some days. I am very much looking forward to being able to do that again.
