Two episodes in. So far, quite well done.

ETA: Okay, four episodes in now and it’s official: New Favorite Show!

They didn’t even get a big splashy final episode, just a normal one as if they were coming back.

Good news, bad news…

Good news: fourth season of “Sex Education” is coming in September!

Bad news: it’s the last season.

Also, we’re supposed to watch all of “Good Omens” Season 2 in the first couple of weeks it’s out, as the best way to ensure there is a Season 3. So there you go.

They didn’t even get a big, flashy final season. It honestly felt like they were running out of strong ideas. One of my favorite things about the first three seasons were the runners between sketches. Fourth season? The reveal should have happened sooner so they could let it get weird. Otherwise the behind the scenes segments just weren’t funny or interesting enough compared to what preceded them.

ETA: Fixed a confusing autocorrect

I had to turn it off. Vaguely similar characters, completely different story and art style, and AMPED TO 11. Nimona is cute though.

Nic Cage, Ron Perlman, Christopher Lee

Claire Foy is the witch

I just finished the graphic novel, and (due to my daughter and my not discouraging it) I’ve seen the movie three times. I’m curious to know if it was just the differences that turned you off from Nimona or if it was anything else?

Two low-key science fiction series that remind me of the character-driven SF of Ray Bradbury and Theodore Sturgeon. Not a superhero in the lot. Unfortunately Night Sky won’t be getting a second season despite having several plot threads that could be pursued. Still worth watching for Sissy Spacek and J.K. Simmons.

Prime Video.

eta: Outer Range looks like something similar. Has anyone seen it?

Tales from the Loop makes for an excellent TV show premise, either an ongoing narrative or episodic, disconnected tales. The original art book is gorgeous, and the TTRPG based on it describes a rich world with so many fun story hooks. I need to prioritize watching the show.

It seemed run through the script mill, “punched up” for impact while also dumbed down for “broad appeal”. I mean, kudos for keeping the relationship between Goldenloin and Blackheart, but don’t spoon feed it to me in the first scene. And for every cute character moment that worked there were more lazy gags that made me roll my eyes, the “I’ll never X!” smash cut to X for laugh stuff, if you know what I mean. Sitcom writing.

I think it’s a testament to Noelle Stevenson’s character work that any of the charm of the original shown through all that noise.

I watched both Night Sky and Outer Range. The latter was definitely more trippy, and was supposed to get a second season. They’re gonna need one to explain some of the plot twists!

second that. Outer Range was a mind frag that i did not appreciate. too trippy, too woo-woo. a second season might answer some questions, but with direction it went, i fear it would only become more deconstructed and not in an artistically satisfying way.

… if it hasn’t been mentioned lately, any J. K. Simmons fans have to see Counterpart :older_man: :older_man:

I can see that. They flattened a young adult webcomic out into a family film. If you’re not into what’s generally used to keep kids engaged, then it’s not going to work for you. Personally, I’m surprised they made the same-sex relationship text instead of subtext and did some of the things they did while also intending to make a family film. Imagine what we would have gotten had Disney decided to keep the film instead of dropping it…

Powerful, with an excellent cast. Triggers: rape, domestic violence (offscreen).

I’ve been enjoying “Warrior” the last little while, currently in Season 3. I’ve caught up now and have to wait a week at a time for new episodes. :frowning:
