Yes to it all. The NRA and gun lobby own our gun laws in the country. Like Big Pharma owns our healthcare laws. Any attempt to pass reasonable gun laws are met with hysterics and stuff like this. This should not be legal. This is not “Open Carry”. This is an armed rebellion and these people should be arrested (or shot if resisting).
Funny enough, people like this scream second amendment all the time to any suggestion of gun control laws, and this is probably is the closest things to what the framers meant when they wrote the second amendment in an effort to protect America from tyranny. Except none of these people belong to a well regulated militia and a telling people to stay home to keep millions from dying isn’t really tyranny.

Grew up a deer hunter, pretty much feel the exact same way.
I support the right, even though I’m extremely liberal and dont hunt anymore- but not the insane right the political right has coopted gun ownership and display into.
It’s a giant neanderthal dick waving competition among neckbearded braindead toughguys who have no clear way to sanely consider other ways of feeling manly anymore. I say this as a large man with a beard until recently myself.
Guns are a tool and designed to kill and the people who carry them around in the open to somehow visibly confirm the idea of an abstract concept of national Safety by frightening the general populace while simultaneously getting to act smug and tough is a grand annoyance to anyone who actually gives a shit about sane ownership.
The NRA, right wing, and now the prepper crowd have successfully completely co-opted the idea of even having a gun into a single image that I have of obnoxious overbearing threatening assholes like this, and it made me forever disassociate myself with the NRA and others who take this line.
Basically a large portion of gun owners in the country have become completely fucking nuts and there’s no sane alternative because these are the people marching into courthouses and pointing guns at legislators now.
I have people in my own family who have had guns seized from them- and I’m ok with this. Some people just should not have them.

It’s honestly impossible to come up with some snark or meme that can help me feel better about any of this. We got domestic terrorists muscling their way into a capitol building, none of them are gonna be arrested or face any consequences whatsoever, and if an errant gunshot goes off tons of people are gonna die and it’ll just serve as more rhetorical ammo for the domestic terrorists with the ones that die being deemed martyrs for the cause.
We’re staring multiple institutional failures and a possible (massively disorganized) armed insurrection right in the fucking face (not just in Michigan but all over the U.S.) as they’re happening and it makes me angry and sad. It makes me unwilling to look at any more news for the next few years.

It’s worth remembering these are many of the same tough militia guys who bought 2000+ rounds of ammo and stacked enough dry food in their tin foil lined basement bunkers to last 10 years. They didn’t make it four weeks.
