Why (or why not) to vote for Jill Stein

I bet at least some Juggalos get their kids vaccinated.

To all those who refused to vote for the lesser of two evils,

Enjoy your “clean consciences,” assholes.

To be honest, it looks like the Johnson voters - not the Stein voters - are the numerical problem, and it is hard to judge how many of the people voting for him would instead have voted for HRC rather than just stay home. What some JS supporters have done is help spread the tired old right wing lies about Clinton being a crook and corrupt.

Johnson voters would be more likely to be GOP supporters, surely? We’re just seeing how angry at the establishment people are and how few were prepared to hold their noses and vote for Clinton, even when the alternative is Trump. It doesn’t make a jot of difference how justified the dislike of Clinton is, it exists.

Assuming they’re informed, then they’d more likely be GOP backers, though they could just be numbskulls.

There was a vast misinformation campaign from JS voters, most of the hard-core ones I’ve talked to on FB/elsewhere were spreading the standard Wikileaks/Assange propaganda.

Not necessarily. 3rd party votes can sometimes give you a shield against making the truly tough choice. A moderate Republican can vote for a Johnson rather than vote for Clinton or stay home. If half the Johnson voters stayed home and the other half voted for Clinton, that’s the difference in a couple of states…

Time to make a killing on some “Blame me, I voted for Johnson” buttons! Hopefully I can sell them in rubles, since the dollar won’t be worth crap in the morning.

Well, it looks like Stein will be a spoiler in MI. It’s feeling more and more like 2000.

#THIS IS WHY YOU DON’T VOTE FOR STEIN

I have tried to be gracious and considerate towards those who are feeling down because Ms. Clinton failed to achieve the presidency, and respectful towards those Trump supporters who are expressing the hope that he will be a new Claudius.

I also tried, over and over again, to help liberal Democrats win this election, despite my own personal conviction that the Green Party is humanity’s hope for the future. In return I’ve been mocked and belittled, I’ve been called an anti-Semite, a misogynist, a racist, and a fool. But despite the anger I’ve often felt, I kept trying to reach you, kept trying to help you win.

#My candidate lost too. Can we give the Green hate a rest for a little while?

There will be ample time to blame outsiders for the party machine’s failures later.

The margin’s in your state were way beyond the 3rd party vote, and you were pretty confident of that before you voted, so you’re not directly responsible for anything. But the Green voters in Wisconsin, the Libertarians in Pennsylvania? They need to own their contribution to what happened. Their votes were votes for Trump. There were probably voters in WI who thought their vote for your fruitbat wouldn’t make a difference too.

The election was the Democrats’ to lose, they have primary responsibility for what happened, but the 3rd parties don’t get a free pass on this one, sorry.

At least you have had a bit more time to get used to the idea that your candidate wasn’t going to win.

Exactly. Libertarians are not anywhere near left-leaning.

Turnout was what, 53%?

Too many people didn’t care who won between Clinton and Trump.

It’s probably higher than average turnout this year.

Looks to be about average. Maybe a little down.

Howzabout we make voter registration mandatory and fix issues with the polls and then we see?

Of course that’ll never be allowed to happen.
