The creepiest thing about this is that Moore hooked this girl outside the courthouse - she was there with her mother for a custody hearing, and he said he’d look after her so she didn’t have to hear that court stuff. That’s when he got her phone number so he could get her outside alone at night.
Did he just walk up and down the park trolling for little girls, or did he watch out his window with binoculars?

The thing is, “innocent until proven guilty” is one of the basic rules of modern legal system. There is also the idea “doubt benefiting the accused”, as in, if you can’t prove the someone’s guilt without doubt, they should be left free for fear of condemning an innocent (or does that one not exist in the US ?)
I don’t know who that guy is, nor do I care. From the comments, he appears to be a standard bastard republican judge (i.e. someone who doesn’t comply with afore mentioned principles if he can get away with it and it can earn one more vote). That doesn’t mean principles should go to the trash heap, as if it did it would mean the asshole is right.
I’ve seen a couple of people calling him a pedophile, but the thing is, for all your outrage, you don’t know whether it is true or not (and considering the 20-30 years time gap, I’m pretty sure it is impossible to prove it either way). If he were to say that a few years ago she held him at gun point to have him perform some kind of depraved act which he was too ashamed to talk about until now, most people would have some doubt about the tale. The same doubt should apply the other way around (although, of course, the woman must be listened to with respect and a proper inquiry must take place).
Oh good, I was worried this specious argument wouldn’t make it in under the 30-post mark. He doesn’t have to be convicted for people to believe the testimony of multiple women accusing him of the crime and react accordingly. This is not a court of law. Stop it.

The Republic should be so lucky. Roy Moore is fundie flim flam man who has twice been removed from the high court in Alabama for ethical violations. You can’t even call his beliefs retrograde, they are insane. He is a dangerous lunatic. His accusers have corroboration and I have no problem judging this evil fucking monster before he has a chance to defend himself. Innocent until proven guilty is concept for a court of law. There is no reason to abide by court rules when speaking of this asshole on an internet forum. It fits that this Elmer Gantry is a pervert too. This hypocrite needs to driven from politics and punished for his own sexual sins. That would be justice.

The whole point of the ‘Christian’ ultra right is for men in authority to establish power over the sexual and reproductive lives of young women. They are very clear about that. We might as well take them at their word. Especially since lots of them have an expansive view of those powers.

Whether someone is really guilty or not of the specific crime they’re accused must matter, be it in court or outside of it. If not, I hope you’ve never felt anything wrong with having anyone you sympathize with being thrown to the wolves for whatever thing tabloids feel that they can accuse them with.

Trumpists love their candidates not in spite of their sexism, but because of their sexism. There are plenty of economically distressed Alabamians who can come up with a dozen reasons why, even if true, this is no big deal.
