Hey, it’s the Senate. He’ll fit right in.
Blockquote
Alabama’s state auditor Jim Zeigler came under fire on Thursday for his remarks defending Mr Moore.
He was quoted as saying that even if the Washington Post report were true, “it’s much ado about very little”.
Mr Zeigler told the Washington Times newspaper: “Also take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus.”
Much ado about very little girls.
Tuesday was a simpler time.
That last phrase though. Using a half baked example from the bible like it was a story that happened to a buddy of yours…
NY Daily News editorial comes across as serious and well considered. It’s the End Times!
And that there shows that in politics having any hope of applying principles or ethics during an election go right out the window. They’d rather eat that shit sandwich than concede power for the next 4 (or how ever many that seat is) years. If they condemn and withdraw they will for sure lose. Try to frame it as dirty tricks or lies or down play it means they might still pull it off.
Nauseating but relevant thread:
We really need a new Fry gif for these situations, where he shrugs and says, “Well, that’s actually about what I expected…”
Kind of like if your country has “Democratic” as part of its name.
This is true. Also see: Branhamites, FLDS
“If so, please join our campaign’s Christian Conservative Coalition today!”
One of his Christian Conservative coalition is the Duck Dynasty guy who said you should marry a your wife when she’s 15.
Christian Conservative Coalition. CCC. Is that a play on KKK, or am I reading too much into this?
Just one point: if he wins the election and then is forced to step down, the governor gets to appoint a replacement. If he steps down now, Doug Jones probably wins.
In the words of the man himself (Matthew 18:5-6)
All these people bending over backwards to defend and excuse Moore are not living up to the message and example of Christ, to put it very mildly.
He all but advertised his interests.
What will he try to pass when he’s a legislator, not a judge?
“Moore was the only vote in favor of a day care worker who raped a 12-year-old, claiming there was no ‘implied threat of serious physical injury’.”
The calculation to support Trump, characterized by that question, removed the religious right from a position of making a claim to upholding the moral character of America to becoming no different than any other power-seeking interest group. The leap from that calculation to defending Roy Moore is not a very long one at all. That’s how far the religious right and many in the GOP have fallen.
Nice. A comforting thought, in a way.
What’s with certain Christians and sexual attraction to teenagers? Like I use to be a fundie when I was my teens to my 20s but wow I never thought this kind of stuff was acceptable. I’m still trying to figure out a pattern here.
I’ve read that article, and not to defend Moore, but there are some serious errors. For one thing, the victim in that case was 4 or 5. I’m not sure how that turned into 12; maybe he’s 12 today?
But also, I read the opinion in the matter, and Moore’s name is not on it.Maybe he heard the appeal? But it’s just sloppy journalism.
So we’ll instead assume that Corfman is lying? Or do we not have to worry about extending this benefit of the doubt to her? A court of law can simultaneously hold that Moore is not guilty of assault and Corfman is not guilty of lying to investigators, slander, etc. A reasonable person cannot simultaneously believe both of those things.
