YouTube is cutting its ties with Logan Paul

If BB decided to open up a Patreon to seek financial support outside of ads i don’t know how successful that’d be but i would likely consider it. I frequently use the site and i try to contribute however i can, i’ve bought maybe 2-3 things off the BB shop over the years and i have indeed used their affiliate link for the odd Amazon product. It’s not something i do regularly but i think they’d get more money from me through Patreon than the once or twice a year purchase of something.

Meh sounds like your neighbor kid is just finding his way. I mean when I was that age I was all over some awful sites, mainly because of severe untreated depression and truly awful life circumstances. In a way it helped me, but maybe because I was accessing it in a way that I knew was putting me in contact with unsavory social elements and/or straight up taboos. I ended up seeing who I don’t want to be in it, and realizing deeper consequences of self-destructive actions I think I wasn’t capable of realizing on my own at that time.
I think the suspension of “is this real or not” and the cute acceptable almost disney-show like aspects make it seem more like it’s all in good fun. To unsnare himself from being just another d-bag Logan is going to have to do more than just change himself, like probably cutting ties with his family and enduring lawsuits with them. Not very likely when it’s easier to play the “oops but you still love me” angle and keep some cash flow. But hey… if I’ve been wrong all these years and there’s a God… maybe it’ll listen.

On the other hand lots of kids out there are putting out really cool things, so you know, there’s hope for the young ones.

Of course filming a dead body isn’t okay. I don’t understand why someone wants to film a dead body. I don’t understand why someone would think his fans would watch to watch it. I don’t understand how someone can earn fans by doing shit like this. I don’t understand how anyone can find this guy appealing. I don’t understand how someone can earn millions being an annoying nobody.

Etc.

I can sort of see the appeal on some level, in my younger years i was a fan of the show Jackass and a few other similar shows that were out at the time. There’s some entertainment and pleasure to be had of seeing someone just not care about consequences and be as much of a troll as possible.

I don’t think young me would be interested in Logan Paul, but it’s not a huge stretch for me to see what some of the appeal is. I don’t quite understand why he’s so popular over other creators on the platform that make much better content however.

I think this is important for young people, otherwise some become that way without understanding the choices they’ve made to get there.

More like he doesn’t want his no-good son moving back home.

Didn’t know squat about this Logan turd when i watched his hanging video, figured he was one of many, many… many… disturbed people who are somehow making a living off YouTube… boggles the mind why anyone would waste a minute viewing his trash.

Anyways, when I was watching this hyper shitbag , first thought I had was “I bet his parent pay to keep him away from home.” And thus this plea by his dad to let the $$ keep flowing in… yeah… I was somewhat right.

Yet I’ve happened across others who make a buck off YouTube, and they are actually interesting and well-meaning people who upload some inspiring material.

But not Logan.

I would buy stuff from the BB Shop, except I don’t seem to be their target audience.

Methinks that YT might be exaggerating a bit here because people were confronting them on how views are generated. There’s another couple of billion ad impressions out there from similar content that I am certain they do not want to interfere with.

Also, banning Pewdiepie for what he “did”, while John Cleese can claim that he is late 'cause “he could not find a kosher carpark” is a bit ironic https://youtu.be/dLplQWB2S_8?t=66
Do YT really want to be the arbiters about what is legit comedy or not?

i actually bought a few knives off the BB ads recently… pretty nice little online shop they have advertising on here

Did he come back as a newt?

Thanks, very informative, I got about ten minutes in and felt like I got their point, and yeah, that editing style and such is hard for older me to watch. Ironic that something edited for short attention spans is so long! Also that they’re explicating what amounts to toxic masculinity by having 3 or 4 guys mansplaining all of it to a young woman who seems set up to look cute and act stupid. Still, drawing the genealogy back to MTV and Jackass and mooks made the appeal of the Pauls suddenly make sense. And hey I guess the appeal of that kind of unbridled narcissism isn’t limited to kids – look who’s president.

Thanks, just got a screenshot and emailed it.

Possibly the most irritating thing is that it autoscrolls down to the video when it loads. I can mute the tab and be fine, but jumping down 2 pages when I’m trying to read the article is unforgivable.
