So, looking at his stats on Socialblade, his views today have earned him twice what heās earned in the last 15 days, even though heās lost more than the subscribers heās gained in the same amount of time in one day.
I kept asking myself why someone would put out a video like that. The answer is, because he gets paid every time someone looks at his videos, even if his content is abhorrent. Now I feel guilty linking to it here. Exposing the guy is enabling him at the same time.
What a genuinely swell chap.
Well hey, assholes. Theyāre on YouTube ā I mean shit, have you ever read the comments?!
I genuinely liked some of his earlier videos, the musical ones, before he started spouting off his odious beliefs. I wonāt link to them here. (And no. I donāt read the comments. I have a browser plug-in that hides them. Best to keep that stuff out of sight.)
Is there a tl;dw?
ETA this came across on my news feed
I can explain much more quickly than the video: itās because heās a jerk.
āGays are just an abomination.ā
āI have a fairly robust resentment of the gay community. I donāt want to really get into this, but when there was the Orlando shooting and the guy was shouting āAllahu Akbarā or something, I was like [āGreat.ā],ā he adds, pumping his fist.ā
He also said itās fantastic that thereās people who want to murder gay people.
And this is a guy whoās been cheerfully taking money from Disney for his remixes. No conflict there, eh Pogo?
Heās apparently put out a new video where he feigns an apology, saying that he doesnāt really hate the gays so much as he likes to grind the gears of SJWs and he did it as an excercise in triggering libs. He ends up doubling down on his own twisted perversity.
(I wonāt link to the video, nor have I watched it myself. This is according to a now locked thread over on r/videos on Reddit. Also, according to the thread, he apparently didnāt make and release the original video himself, but said what he said during a live stream chat some time ago, and someone else posted the clip. Why they posted it as unlisted though, Iām not sure.)
Iām sure he did, and Iām sure his video is monetized as heck to milk this furor for as much cash as he can before his career (as a remixer, anyway) sputters out. Say goodbye to that sweet Disney cash, Pogo.
So the guy does electronic dance music remixes of Disney songs, and, eh, hates the gays?
I think I might see whatās going on hereā¦
Not really. He created a sort of unique style that a lot of people have copied (and done better) since: he takes audio or, more often, video, samples the individual syllables and sounds in it, then writes new music with it, synced to a cut-up version of the video.
This is probably his most well known piece:
I say this as a really hardcore ally ā I mean, I give HRC money every month.
That is pretty gay.
Something tells me thereās a decent chance this fellow hasā¦ unresolved issues? Maybe?
If his abhorrent attitudes can be explained away by his own self-hatred as a closeted gay man, I might have some sympathy for him. Since heās a self-proclaimed right-winger, looking to trigger people with his edgy commentary, and trying to emulate his heroes, Joe Rogan and Ben Shapiro, I have none.
I would have to agree.
So, is he called Ron a āfaggotā or is it the Faggo-Tron, because:
ETA: Hopefully itās obvious Iām not defending the musician from the OP but rather just linking to some absurd comedy that the name brought to the front of my memory.
āI said bigoted things, and sure they hurt people who are the targets of those bigotry, but I donāt hate those people, Iām just utterly indifferent to them in my quest to hurt other people.ā
And we, naturally, respond, āOH! Well thatās okay then.ā
Welp, thatās disappointing. I love his remix of Star Trek: TNG with Data and Picard.
He strikes me as a young semi-celebrity who wants to strike an almost comically dark hyper-cishet edgelord pose to counter anyone who might think that his remixes of Disney movies are the gayest thing ever, because, well, they kind of are. I mean really, no matter how much gay people make you uncomfortable, how many musicians would post a video cheering for their murder? The dudeās got serious issues to work through. (also, thank you for being an awesome ally)
Most welcome! I came up in the rave scene and got to know a very diverse set of wonderful folks at a young age, as well as had a pretty progressive family environment which didnāt teach me to be a bigoted asshole. It pains me that more people donāt have such opportunities.
Now that the original video has been taken offline, and after having lost several thousand subscribers, his numbers are back on the rise. So I guess all is forgiven.
