I liked the one about earning oneā€™s spurs best.

Itā€™s from Jimmy Kimmel. The late night shows have to go really deep to parody this nonsense.

I say he did because of course he would.

because it is exactly the sort of thing a 12 year old spoiled little shit would do. And we all know that is exactly who he is.

Yeah, this is a weird thing you constantly see in defense of Trump, that the defense is often obvious grounds for removal from office. Like the entire Ukraine phone call discussion about how Trump never said that aid was contingent on political help.

Yeah, Trump never said that, but Zelensky believed thatā€™s what Trump meant, everyone else who read the transcript thought thatā€™s what Trump meant. If the president is so bad at communicating with foreign leaders that the foreign leaders believe the president extorting them to commit crimes, doesnā€™t that mean they arenā€™t fit to be president?

Watch the guy end up trying to play the role of the victim in all of this

Not sure where else to put this, maybe Iā€™ll also put it into the ā€œfollow upā€ threadā€¦ but what the hell is wrong with Assange? Heā€™s been in a British jail, yeah? I wouldnā€™t think theyā€™d be in the habit of drugging people in custodyā€¦? But that kind of sounds like whatā€™s happened. I guess he could just have woken up and was still groggy?

In which the President declares parts of the Constitution ā€œphonyā€.

Note: the President is not a very literate man, nor does he typically use words of more than a syllable or two. The fact that he knows the term ā€œEmolumentsā€ and can pronounce it tells me that his staff has been talking about it to him a whole lot.

Just woke up and couldnā€™t remember their name? My guess is this is a stupid ploy to appear incompetent to stand trial (Iā€™m sure people try this now and then). That said, Iā€™ve certainly known people who spent their whole lives being high-flying dicks only to crash into crippling depression one day. Iā€™m not actually making a prediction, but if a headline one day shows up that Assange was diagnosed with bipolar Iā€™m not going to be fighting back the shock, mumbling to myself, ā€œNo! Not Julian Assange!ā€

I have no idea if the Pentagonā€™s plans here are motivated by some heads-up info from the WH, but ā€“ if that isnā€™t the case ā€“ Iā€™d say the Pentagon is basing their plans on the assumption that Trumpā€™s things-to-do list from Putin includes the US pulling out of Afghanistan; given everything so far, I think that would be a fair assumption.

(Note: The Machiavellian in me thinks that this may be the Pentagonā€™s sneaky (and not so innocent) way of giving Congress an early heads-up so they can start getting theyā€™re ducks in a row now and warn off Trump well before he has a chance to issue the order ā€“ for what thatā€™s worth.)

What the ever-loving fuck is wrong with people???

I would hope that the military is fucking pissed at being caught flat footed on this whole Syrian withdrawal thing. Hell, they had to bomb their own bases to keep them out of the hands of the Turks. Maybe they are just not willing to trust Trump to not tweet them out of another theater, or maybe they are giving Congress a heads up. Either way, I suspect Trump has lost the generals.

Curious, I went to go see how prolific the contact info was for the rest of Epsteinā€™s contacts. 17 is not out of the ordinaryā€“the number of contact numbers per person is pretty high.

They most definitely are (given reactions so far from the ex-military). Whatā€™s worse than being caught flat-footed is the sheer betrayal. The Kurdish fighters (extremely effective and reliable) worked very well with our forces in handling ISIS; you know our soldiers had to appreciate that. Kurdish support meant greater safety for our own forces there, for the people of the Middle East who are opposed to ISIS, and for people back home. And if weā€™re thinking ā€œPutin ordered thisā€, then you know that our generals are also thinking it.

Weā€™re not allowed to leave Afghanistan either?

I thought Obama wanted to leave Afghanistan

Progressives need a foreign policy philosophy beyond just being against whatever Trump does

A planned and structured withdrawal is good practice. Just up and leaving due to a tweet is not the way to do it.
