That’s fair, I’m also white & poor so I got 2/3 of the ingredients necessary to be successful by default - granted, I got all the ones I couldn’t pick and have no choice in, but it’s fair that I be held to account for them anyway. Speaking as someone who is both white and male, of the three components in “rich white man” only the first one really matters. Again, maybe that’s the slanted view of the world I have due to already having the last two - though I would trade in for the first one.
From “You didn’t know what the RBF meme is” therefor “you’re blind to all that women have to face” - that’s a step too far, no?
IN A HEARTBEAT. Richer is better, on this planet anyway.
People born rich tell me that being rich is difficult, and that they suffer just as much as the poor, but I’m simply not willing to accept this thesis without doing the experiment.
By begin a white male, you are already better off than any other person who is not. You only need to compare yourself to other white males. People of color and different sexs have to deal with a shit ton more. You can’t understand it because you can’t experience it.
In the library where I work we once got a pictorial biography of Putin with over a hundred pictures of him. We quickly made up a game: How Quickly Can You Find The One Of Him Smiling?
In that one he’s looking at a baby. And probably thinking “Yummy.”
Male. That is all. Just male. Males of all skin colors are equally capable of and do harass women. Similarly, wealthy males are equally capable of harassing women as impoverished males. It all flows from the same fount of patriarchal privilege.
And yet because you’re a white man who doesn’t suffer in terms of race and gender, but does suffer poverty, you would immediately JUMP at the chance to be a black woman who’s also rich. Without even understanding what it’s like to be black and/or a woman, understandings that you agree you can’t have because you haven’t experienced either one.
Dude, you’re clearly a mess when it comes to making decisions. One with, I’m guessing, a terrible credit rating.
