I am sure as I can be that this guy is not at all the only one, and I sincerely hope the USSS has learned a hard lesson from the near-assassination of Il Douche to do their job with a bit more thoroughness.

on the bright side, maybe that’ll leave the playing field open 8 years from now. picking a younger white guy might have set him up as the inevitable nominee after a successful harris administration. and it’d really be nice to have women from here on out. ( well, for the next 250 years or so. you know, to balance things out. )
also, he seems solid, but not exciting… which might prevent the media from using him to upstage harris during her term/s

Looking at this whole election at a distance, and from a Finnish perspective, it seems to me that the MAGA side has lost the initiative. The Democrats clearly have the momentum: they are driving the media cycle, while the Republicans are just reacting to things – and people are only interested in their opinions and statements to see what new, out-of-touch weirdness they will spout.

i’ve a vague ominous feeling that the trumpies have given up all but performative campaigning and are now concentrating on organizing a election certification-level plus packed courts steal. And the only reason they campaign at all is to keep the donor money flowing into their coffers.
