"Full House" star is full of bigotry

If they made it realistically sized for their income, every episode would be like the Marx Brothers stateroom A Night At The Opera (1935) - Stateroom scene [HD] - YouTube

I knew I was right in completely ignoring it.

Seems like she’s doing a great job on that without any help.

Great American Family network is not part of my cable package thank goodness. I mean, it might be, I’ve never obsessively checked out what each and every channel that is in my package is called.

The name itself has such creepy connotations at this point. I guess if I saw “GAF” I wouldn’t know, but once I saw the actual name I’d likely either opt out or hate-watch.

Stephen Colbert had this funny take on Hallmark movies released at this time of year, too (link set to start of the commercial):

Needs more ugly sweaters though; I saw a couple of really nice sweaters.

Great American Family sounds like that Hitler sitcom pilot but with the Trumps.

But like if what distinguishes you is not including something that already isn’t included in most of the media you’re going to derive your material from… that’s probably gonna be a damned boring show. Like shows about hetero married couples will increase by count of 1.

This, especially considering a few years ago they canned a commercial, not even a thing in their movies but a commercial, involving a gay couple.

They’ve also started having more POCs show up and quietly sneaking in interracial couples (thing I shouldn’t have to watch for in 2022 but literally look at Mitch McConnel and Clarence Thomas lately being hypocrites).

I think as people took notice, they started slowly losing advertisers. Doubly so as other cable channels and streaming outlets took note of the popularity of their format of movie and ran with it. Pretty sure there was a split at the top levels that cause Great American Propaganda or whatever it’s called split off.

The Jodie Sweetin news (now also all over Hallmark) above gives me hope.

Source: My wife watches that channel. A lot. In her defense, she also notes that the main reason is because of romantic comedies being nearly dead in Hollywood and this is the backfill.

Maybe this is also part of why spin-offs rarely work. Seeing these familiar characters in totally alien environments is off putting. Like seeing your teacher at the grocery store. You don’t want to think of the other parts of this person’s life. They are one with their primary setting.

The ones that work, like Frasier spinning off Cheers, are maybe because the characters are minor in the original. Just speculating here- I have no idea how any of this works.

I guess newer shows have strayed from the spinoff formula that worked well in the '70s. Someone mentioned MTM above, and I immediately thought of Rhoda and Phyllis. Not sure if All in the Family holds the record for this, but it’s quite a list:

I wasn’t familiar with the last show they listed, 704 Hauser… looks like it only lasted a few episodes…
