Generic 2016 US Election Cycle Recycling Bin

The Breitbart on is particulairly bad because I like to click those “source” links and find this article

An entirely unsourced article… oh except for David Whitehouse and Judith Curry, the exact same people that always claim parsed data bullshit. But Breitbart has additional information they provide by top journalist James Delingpole… oh wait he again quotes David Whitehouse. But he then goes on to brag about the other Breitbart articles he posted… where he argues 2014 wasn’t the hottest on record for the past decade, and that 2015 wasn’t the hottest on record for the past decade… and using a random Wordpress blog that has no proof of its claims (even called on it more than once) and other random blogs citing a “customized meteorology report” expert and calling University of Alabama in Huntsville the single most accurate temperature recording institution in the world… oh, and they compare satellite data from the late 90s on to measurements on land before that time to prove modern history was cooler while arguing that measurements on land are too warm because of various effects. They also don’t like to mention that satellite measurements also show a small warming trend post 2000 too.

It’s infuriating how they literally just repeat the same parsed junk from the same junk people.

I think you misspelt “arsehole”.

What kind of pole is a delingpole?

Or at least his social media intern.

Honestly? I doubt it. They weren’t my words. But Stein will be blamed forever, like Nader will be, no matter how many other reasons there are that Clinton lost.

(Climate (science (denial))) are three of his default positions. The type of denial becomes more specific as you move outward.

That has been the case since the day the US Army was founded. The Phillipines, My Lai, waterboarding, etc.

Roughly 70% of active military voters are Trumpkins. If you’re expecting the honor and decency of the US military to save you from fascism…ain’t gonna happen.

Anyone want to buy Trump’s debt?

I’ve had more than one conversation where I pointed out that all the (soldier) budget cuts they attributed to Obama and the DNC were because of the GOP, and that they have held the purse string for years while still blaming the DNC. Sort of like when I had to explain that as Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld failed in Afghanistan so hard that he elected to blitz Iraq and get George Bush announcing Mission Accomplished ASAP after being told he was the greatest Secretary of Defense of all time. In the end the conversation normally sank down to “yeah, well we fought for your freedom!” after a public google/wikipedia search.

I’m actually pretty happy I’m not around army guys so much anymore.

I’m sure there’s a “Tiny fingers” joke there somewhere.

Did somebody find out they aren’t getting that cabinet position?

Christ, are we supposed to start thinking of her as some sort of reasonable elder statesman now? Is this what it’s come to? “Mitt Romney wouldn’t be the literal worst SoS, and Sarah Palin has a valid point”?

No, it’s just that the “principled conservative opposition” are finally realizing that Trump scammed them like he scammed everyone else.

But she’s a bit worse than Nader since she was promoting dishonest conspiracy theories and rank bullshit to attack Clinton.
As much as I’ve been poking away at Stein all election, I didn’t get genuinely angry at her until I saw an interview where she was being questioned about her investments (she owns some Big Pharma stock and some general index funds). The interviewer asked her why she hadn’t invested in any green or socially conscious investments, she claimed she didn’t know about them. WTF kind of answer is that for a Green Party leader?? I have a large chunk of my savings in such funds (what’s left after taking a beating in 2008), it doesn’t take a PhD in Finance to know that they exist. Hypocrite much?

Stein took more votes from Clinton than Johnson took from Trump?
Probably - libertarians are often thoughtful enough not to vote for a declared autocrat - but that’s not the point: if all the Libertarians in these states had voted for Trump instead and all the Greens had voted for Clinton then Clinton would be the President-elect.

There are more Libertarians than Greens.

If all the Libertarians had voted for Trump, and all the Greens had voted for Clinton, then Trump’s margins of victory would have been larger.

Looked again, and you’re right, even in Wisconsin T+J>C+S. Note though that even the Libertarian VP nominee preferred Clinton to Trump, and the Libertarian convention was pretty strongly anti-Trump. Hard to imagine many Libertarians voting for Mr. Gut the Bill of Rights.

More data illustrating that Trump drove voters to the polls on racism and not out of economic concerns.

The Governor’s giving a very special christmas present to disabled children this year. Abbot’s disabled, confined to a wheelchair, got an insurance payout for his injury that he’s since made sure others can’t receive thanks to tort reforms, and now he’s going after disabled children. He’s really something.

…which leaves? Petraeus? Bolton? Ugh.

(this article mentions Huntsman, though, and he’s like Romney, but better, so…fingers crossed?)
