It’s not just that, though. They’re also fighting for white supremacy. Plenty of white activists got beaten during BLM demonstrations over the summer. I seem to recall a young reported who lost her eye. An old man bleeding from his ear.
I’m not saying it’s not about race, it absolutely is. But let’s be clear, no matter your race*, to actively demonstrate for anything that threatens the status quo, whether it’s racial equality or healthcare, you put yourself at far greater risk than actively demonstrating for white supremacy.
This says a lot about the country we live in right now.
*and hundredfold more risk if you also are BIPOC.
