QAPLA': General Star Trek thread... for all your Trekin' needs

I rewatched that episode recently, and I realized just how horny Jadzia is for the entire series (until the fuckers killed her off)…

To an uncomfortable extent, even. She made some pretty inappropriate advances toward a lower-ranking officer at her bachelorette party, offering time off his duties in exchange for implied sexual favors. That’s just improper conduct in any century.

This aired back when some infamous military sex scandals were still fresh in the public’s memory too. They could have made it a lot less problematic if the shirtless guy she was hitting was a hired escort or a dancer who worked for Quark or something. Probably the kind of episode they should have hired a woman to write.

The dude is 93 years old and at least one of his grandchildren is 36 years old. Odds are good that he’s a great-granddaddy by now.

I have no idea why he would even be interested in the work if it was offered to him, but who knows.

The death of Vulcan: Study reveals planet is actually an astronomical illusion caused by stellar activity

https://phys.org/news/2024-05-death-vulcan-reveals-planet-astronomical.amp

“A planet thought to orbit the star 40 Eridani A—host to Mr. Spock’s fictional home planet, Vulcan, in the “Star Trek” universe—is really a kind of astronomical illusion caused by the pulses and jitters of the star itself, a new study shows.”

Looks like they got the planetary cloaking device up and running. Can’t say I blame them.

I thought the season finale of Disco was well done. With a few nice reveals and callbacks.

And a great day to watch it.
