Sinema at least we can hope to replace with someone better. Manchin is reelected on name recognition alone in WV. If there were a real challenge, he would be replaced by someone in the Empty Greene category, I suspect. We need to flip some red seats to take away their power.

I know it’s been said a million times, but when I read the argument that the right to an abortion is not constitutionally protected it really sunk in how different the reasoning would go if men could get pregnant.

I haven’t read today’s (cobbled-together-overnight) newspaper, much less kept up with whatever’s developed in the meantime – but could this leak (or whatever) result in a mistrial? (And perhaps that was the goal) Does mistrial ever happen at the SCOTUS level?
I’m pretty sure mistrials aren’t a thing for Supreme Court cases. Regardless, Justice Roberts says the leak won’t affect the work of the court:

There are two ways to remove Justices of the Supreme Court. Impeachment is one of them. People are openly talking about it on Twitter, Mastodon, etc… and they are not talking about impeachment.
Things like this were not even said about Trump, but they were said in Facebook groups leading up to the Jan 6 insurrection. Only difference is now they are being said by the Left vs. the Right.
This could get “interesting”
What happens when you have hundreds if not thousands of threats being made on social media, on a platform a lot more anonymous than Facebook?

At this point, I have ZERO trust in SCOTUS. They’re a secretive group and most of them are ethically-challenged. Chief Justice John Roberts thinks he can wrangle members of SCOTUS, but that ship has sailed long ago. He is shown himself to be completely useless.

Not likely the draft will, it’s apparently dated February and the deliberation process apparently involves everyone tossing these drafts around and votes changing.
But the decision will likely go this way.
This means that at least as of February a majority of the court had voted to overturn Roe v Wade and Casey. The one potential, when it’s good for PR, swing vote wouldn’t be enough to change that. And it doesn’t seem likely any of our conservative justices would change their vote.
Especially given the bonkers reasoning and hard line positions in the draft. It’s just endorsing the Anti-Choice play book and slapping a states-rights logic on it. Seems pretty likely to me whatever breakdown lead to the draft is not gonna get swayed by any arguments or new info.

I’ll bet that most anti-abortion legal groups at federal and state level also got this advance copy, so that they’d be ready to move when the final judgement drops.

Yes, there were other factors. Yes the Democrats are far from an ideal party.
And also, rights and prosperity for everyone not super wealthy, inside and outside of the US, depend on everyone who wants better going to the polls. And sometimes holding their nose when they vote.
Evangelicals did that. And, today, it looks like they got what they wanted from it. We need to make that temporary.
