I wish religious business owners with more progressive views would put up signs in their businesses that said “Hate is not a Christian value; no Tea Party Republicans allowed.”

Christian Fundies are also very fond of being “Persecuted” for their faith, since that’s an important narrative in both bilblical testaments. I’ve had Christian friends tell me with a straight face that they’ve been persecuted for their faith, in fact.
It’s a similar problem with the meaning of words, as someone pointed out with Mr. Cruz. Being poked fun of in high school for being a goodie two-shoes is not religious persecution. Being tortured until you renounce your faith is religious persecution. Having a world leader try to wipe every believer of your faith off the planet is religious persecution.
Given the above 2 examples, and the last 500 years of world history, it’s downright weird which faiths do most of the complaining about persecution!

I’m still waiting for a bakery to refuse to bake a cake for someone’s second wedding. It’s made very clear in several books of the bible that divorcing and marrying someone else is adultery. That should technically upset their religious sensitivities about marriage just as much as anything.

But since they are really the only true progressive people in DC are also not completely insane, AND have ideas that are important to 99 percent of Americans, sane people need to talk about what they stand for in the Senate as well.
