Also, a less arrogant guy in a wheelchair might think twice before laying the groundwork for an American version of Aktion T4.
Just came here to post the same. It’s an excellent (brief) primer.
Just a modified mission. Now known as the Compliance Policing Squad.
I was just going to ask if there are any resources available for people who need to escape Texas but lack the means. It’s no longer a safe place to live or visit and I feel awful for anyone who is stuck there while it rapidly decays into a fascist nightmare around them. This shit is why people are worried about another civil war- the difference in values is so stark that it doesn’t even feel like part of the USA any longer. This polar opposite view of what’s considered right and wrong is not sustainable for long and I sincerely hope Texas collapses into a non-functional failure under its own hatred before the cancer spreads to other states.
A completely intended side effect of this edict is that not only will it justify the kidnapping and torture of out trans kids, it will force all trans kids to remain closeted, at home, at school, everywhere - no place will be safe because, again, Abbott is empowering every fascist dumbfuck in the state to be a snitch.
I’ve taught kids who couldn’t be themselves at home, or in most of the school, but could at least be so in my art room. Laws like this aim to terrify children so much that they don’t even have the chance of any public space where the are accepted and affirmed. It’s monstrously abusive, even for the kids who aren’t kidnapped and tortured by the state.
I also came across this
I guess that plan is to criminalize empathy out of Texas; leaving only Republican Voting Arseholes behind.
You got that exactly right. If we don’t do that and do it quickly the right will take total control and we won’t get it back without bloodshed and who owns most of the guns in private hands. And to make a double fuck of the left buying guns, guess who will make even more money if we do decide arm up. What a cluster fuck!
It really seems like they looked at the data regarding the risks of suicide in trans youth and asked themselves, “How can we increase that risk?”.
Also, isn’t it beside the actual point, which is Abbott has gone full on fascist? I mean, I guess we should spell their names correctly, but seems to me that there are more important things happening?
I just never understand the people who look at something like this obvious attack on human rights, and concern themselves with things like whether we spell the names of fascists correctly…
The main reason I can think of is SEO - spelled correctly it increases the possibility that someone searching his name will see these critiques
I guess, but the battle won’t be won on message boards. These struggles never are won in non-physical spaces, but on the streets.
I wish that was true, but white supremacy and fascism are making their biggest gains online and translating that to the streets. The streets matter, but hearts and minds are being changed online at an accelerating pace
Yes, sorry, you are correct. I’ve deleted the comment.
But my point that they are not going to be swayed by polite words stands. These are people who most likely were already inclined to fascist views of the world. They go to places that reinforce their already existing world view and it might further radicalize them, but I promise you, they already believe some version of their more extreme views.
That’s not what I meant.
Right, which makes sense in the context of doctors*, but teachers? How are they going to know? They aren’t - so it becomes another bullying mechanism for non-gender-conforming kids. There are plenty of conservative teachers who are eager to start enacting something like that.
*Also: hey cis kids, did you need some hormones for some reason? Well too bad!
Absolutely. I am just saying that it is important for people that are not already red-pilled to have chance of finding us when they search for information about Abbott, or any of the other assholes we talk about.
