totally fucked up. Gold stars on their jackets next?
Signed.
What Abbott is doing is appalling.
I know that the outcomes right now make this point kind of a moot point, but I need to remind us all (myself included) that the D controlled house has passed a number of bills the majority of Americans are behind, and that 96% of senate Dems have also voted in favor of. And 100% of R senators have voted against.
Not that you are doing this, but so many people use the senate’s inaction as an excuse to “both sides” the issues, when in fact, it is very clearly one side that’s largely responsible.
They are anti-woman and anti-child and anti-choice.
Fuck. I just had a nightmare moment. If this is a “Governor’s decree, AG interpretation” kind of thing, and given how the fascists are so good at Monkey See- Monkey Do, how long do you figure until other fascist gov’s start doing the same goddam thing? And we just elected a Trump-wannabe here in VA. Holy shit, the possibility of this going widespread is so real right now. Holy fucking shit…
That is the whole point.
There’s one national organization (forgot the name) that creates the wording for these types of things, and distributes them for free to Republican politicians to sponsor. The other states will have the same boilerplate with no effort needed on their part.
ALEC. May they burn in the deepest pit of hell.
Well, as they call themselves the Lone Star State, and pretty much see themselves as a separate entity anyway, you’re really not far off. Screw the Wall, just cut all round the border and drag the whole sorry mess out into the Gulf and cast it loose.
Being the local trans-friendly peds, I will let it be know that I will not comply. That’s not a bad epitaph if it comes to it.
That’s a pentagram on the flag, not a star
I don’t think I realized how much this was hitting me until I read that from you. Now I’m glad I’m alone in the IT basement right now because I’m crying a bit. Thank you.
This is hit me too as I was sending the change;org petition to friends and family. Abbott s mandating, not legislating. Legislation can be reviewed, overturned. A mandate like this? The only way to get rid of it is regime change and, well… Texas.
As you mentioned, a vast number of Texans actually support him. He’s the symptom, not the cause. Texas should just… be off your list.
This, basically. I’m in Oregon, which is only blue because of Portland and Eugene. Rural Oregon is a few years behind Texas and Florida, but… you know. Not much. We have a lot of sovereign citizens, and in southern Oreogn, where I am, a lot of people desperately hoping to create the state of Jefferson, so they can live in perpetual neoliberal libertarian anarchy. (And of course, then go full-Karen-meltdown when it inevitably collapses.)
And @awfulhorrid too, and anyone who needs it:
I invite you to try, Simple Green.
They just get worse. Every time there’s a new low they just go even lower. What a hateful woman and party.
I’m not ready to cede any part of the U.S. to these Taliban motherfxrs, whether they’re in the Texas statehouse, rural Oregon, or anywhere, really. But I’m sure as hell not going to intentionally spend a dime on anything with TX in the address until they fix their shit.
