The Fall of Roe v Wade & the Insidious Fascist Plot to Make All Women into Mere Broodmares

The AZ GOP upholding the Howell Code is bad law and manifestly unjust. It also enrages me some random ass was allowed to become a guardian ad litem of “unborn children” to appeal the original decision that said the recent law with a 15-week ban prevailed. That is an absolute perversion of the guardian ad litem system.

The Howell Code has all kinds of crazy shit in it and AZ GOP would do all this stuff too given even a tiny chance. It’s like a white supremacy christo-fascist wish list

Yup. From HCR:

The legislature provided that “[n]o black or mulatto, or Indian, Mongolian, or Asiatic, shall be permitted to [testify in court] against any white person,” thus making it impossible for them to protect their property, their families, or themselves from their white neighbors. It declared that “all marriages between a white person and a [Black person], shall…be absolutely void.”
And it defined the age of consent for sexual intercourse to be just ten years old (even if a younger child had “consented”).

I am sure there is more, equally horrifying, stuff in there. And yes, I suspect they would revive the whole damned thing if there was any way to do so. Or, help me on this, they haven’t done so already, have they??

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/apr/10/arizona-republicans-block-repeal-state-abortion-ban

Republicans in Arizona halted an effort by Democrats on Wednesday to repeal an 1864 law banning almost all abortions, which the state supreme court this week ruled could go into effect.

The move came after Republican lawmakers in the state had denounced the court’s decision, including some who previously expressed support for the law. Donald Trump and other high-profile Republicans, such as Senate candidate Kari Lake, had also declared their opposition to the ruling with Lake urging lawmakers to “come up with an immediate common-sense solution that Arizonans can support”.

Nice little mic drop!

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) on Thursday asked FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Califf whether Viagra was a “life-saving” drug amidst the Supreme Court battle over mifepristone.

“Out of curiosity, would you consider the medical management of a miscarriage to be potentially a life-saving usage, yes or no?” Crockett asked.

“I have to decline to answer that because it’s under investigation by the Supreme Court,” Califf said.

“That is perfectly fine. I’m gonna tell you yes, but I’m gonna give you another question that you can answer,” Crockett replied. “Would you consider erectile dysfunction as a life-saving usage for Viagra?”

“Not life-saving,” Califf said.

“Not life-saving, okay. Well, I’m going to tell you that based on my research that mifepristone actually has life-saving characteristics, yet Viagra doesn’t. And for those that don’t know, Viagra, from my understanding, is actually nearly 10 times greater as it relates to risk of death. Yet for some reason, it’s not sitting in the court right now,” Crockett added.

Maybe he’s reluctant to own the abortion issue in a way that would clearly oppose Republican theft of women’s rights because his superstitious fealty to Sky Daddy makes him think that women should indeed be at least discouraged from having them.

I actually think it’s a powerful argument to say: because of my religious beliefs, I would never get an abortion or help someone else do so, but because of my patriotism to this country, I support everyone’s right to use their own beliefs and philosophies as a basis to make their own medical choices with their doctors.

They live extremely privileged lives. Just reading snippets of their opinions I can tell they are white, christian, and their husbands are earning well over bottom six figures.

I am also very against older children being placed in the role of a pseudo parent. I think it is very damaging to children. Helping is one thing. Being responsible is another.

It is terrifying how those women think their lives and their solutions would work for everyone. And even more terrifying they think we need more christian religious institutions and more Christianity in government/education. Because they mean a very particular kind of Christianity that is only kind and useful to a very small population
