Same problem. K Street is between my apartment and my office. (And most of the lobbying firms aren’t really located there anymore anyway.)
We frankly have a pretty great city here (and, again, it’s one that reliably votes between 85% and 93% Democratic). We’re largely hunkered down and unhappily coping with the current resident, and the last thing we need is folks from the rest of the country rooting for our city to be torn up by tank treads, because we ALREADY pay very high taxes (without, I might add, any goddamn federal representation) and you can bet Congress isn’t going to appropriate dollar one to pay for repairing our streets after 45’s dick-measuring exercise.

OTTOMH India and Turkey have annual military parades and are democracies (increasingly dubious in the case of Turkey). A few of the former Eastern Bloc countries still have them as a hangover from Warsaw Pact days, but outside of France, no they’re not normal.
The Bastille Day parade dates from the late 19th Century but it was only after World War I that it was moved to the Champs Elysees.
Doubtless the reviewing podium will be outside the Trump Shithole - sorry Hotel.

The first thing the regime did was send in tanks, which were immobilized by large crowds of civilians.
He wants to waste millions on a parade while service men and women with families struggle to make ends meet. Wonderful.

If the planning were up to me, there wouldn’t be the dickwaving pomp Cheeto wants- any active duty that would have gotten called out instead get a 96 hour leave. That money to be spent on bring tanks instead will be to bring maimed and disabled vets for the crowds that love to holler about the TROOOOOPS but give a remarkably small shit about how we treat the human wreckage left behind.
This doesn’t even get to mispending or how completely and utterly fucking up ‘nationbuilding’ tends not to win hearts and minds among many other things, but gotta start somewhere.
