Trump hotels, faced with massive declines in bookings, rebrand as "Scion Hotels"

I’ve got a Chevy pickup. It seems to me, in the US, a person has to decide. It’s GM or Ford. I’m a Semite. I’ve decided. You heard my reason.

I’ve got and old Honda too. I’m not like some US nameplate only kind of dimbulb.

Not much you can say really bad about Giovanni Agnelli, Fiat’s founder, other than he was a typical businessman and politician (he was mayor of a small town near Torino most of his life). Although you could possibly credit Fiat’s founding with Count Emanuele Cacherano of Bricherasio, who created as a hobby the horseless carriage which became the first Fiat.

Having lived in Vegas for 4 years i couldn’t tell you even what the lobby of the Trump casino is like, nor have i ever met anyone that ever went to one. Also it sure would be a shame if people kept pointing out that these Scion branded hotels are owned by Trump. Why would anyone bring up that Trump has anything to do with Scion Hotels?

I love the use of selective focus, there.

And because I’m not a sadist, the link.

How about The Putin Palace?

Yup… that’s the guy. It came with a breakfast nook.

I think this is the key with which to view the next three weeks.

Trump knows he’s going to lose, he also knows his business interests are going to take a massive hit. His brand is his biggest asset and it’s now toxic for mainstream consumers and media. He’s not going to get another apprentice, and only a small fraction of consumers will be caught dead staying in his buildings. Bankruptcy is a very real risk.

I think he’s placing all his bets on monetizing his new base. He’ll try to make TrumpTV the FOX news of the alt-right and hope that his base is fervent enough to give his brand value for his remaining assets.

Holden* vs. Ford.

*Which will always be a rebadged Vauxhall to me.

Except when the Vauxhall is a rebadged Holden (instead of a rebadged Opel)

I was thinking of not just his cheaply made products, but the style that he was associated with - extravagance that consisted of a lot of expensive but incredibly tacky gold-plated shit. The very epitome of “more money than taste.”

Scion’s interesting car was the original xB. But by a couple of years later (when I needed a new car), it had been redesigned from its original xBox shape to a more conventional short minivan, with less headroom and less cargo capacity, but the same not-very-inspiring gas mileage.
