Trump just fired FBI director James Comey

Where were Ivanka and Jared?

Fuck those two. They only seem reasonable because they’re being compared to termite colonies walking around in human skin-suits.

You overestimate their skills. For all their smarts, they are little more than kids - they don’t know diddly squat about running a political party. Ivanka in particular is a complete follower - she’s close to progressive stances in some areas simply because that’s what’s fashionable on her Instagram or Facebook feed. Kushner is a realtor’s heir, which is why Trump loves him - they speak the same language - but he’s not a spin-doctor.

There you go, I corrected it for you

Despite you telling me three times you are not investigating me I actually think you are so you’re fired.

Lawfare was a fantastic podcast! It definitely goes on my My Podcasts.

Ivan and Red (of BoarsGoreAndSwords) also cover the resignation on their Bunker Politics podcast. Albeit, theirs is a visceral response and has nothing like the litigious firepower of Lawfare.

Cognitive dissonance. It’s not always pretty.

But hey, look on the bright side: war with North Korea will be a shitshow and cause massive casualties. And in the venn diagram of {the demographic of the young people who fight our wars} and {Trump voters}, the former has huge overlap with the latter. So in terms of future elections, problem solved!

[that was deep, deep sarcasm, in case it wasn’t obvious :unamused:]

THIS is the thing that people aren’t thinking enough about. If Pence gains the office, all the republicans will happily/eagerly/excitedly get 100% on board with every single presidential action he initiates. That’s the real Handmaid’s Tale moment.

I’ve come to believe that the best we can hope for is, if we can keep Trump from causing nuclear armageddon (big if, I know), keeping him in office and actually hoping for maximum wack-a-doo chaos and idiocy. That will help solve two huge issues: preventing a Pence theocracy and convincing the cognitively salvageable Trump voters that conservatism has gone down a very bad road in the USA

No they won’t. Some will, but not others. Both for reasons that many of them don’t share the same views, and for the second reason that they will want to distance themselves from the failed experiment as best they can because they want to be reelected.

That ship is quickly about to sail as those eggs are nearly expired. Oh, well. I can always participate in the persecution of other women!

I can’t help but think that we will not be seeing a replacement director very soon. Nothing puts investigations on hold like waiting on new management.

he’s doing it on purpose.

Are you sure? After all, he didn’t end with “Sad!”

Very well-put.

Mine, too. Sorry, I’d rather die than persecute other humans. And I’d rather take a few persecutors with when I go. Just switch me to another group of those to be persecute by someone else, 'k?

Meanwhile, the bureaucracy grinds on…
