I’ve been fully expecting Trump to get into the NFT grift, so this isn’t surprising in the least. I don’t expect they’ll sell many, except to confused Trumpers who think they’ll be getting something to frame and hang on the wall… Love that it appears to be AI-generated - of course no one was actually going to hire an artist. Also, LOL at “scenes from his life” - it’s all pure fantasy, even when it’s just him in a tux (that’s not remotely his body).
I suspect this has been in the works since the height of the NFT boom - but they just couldn’t get their shit together to release it until now. People have probably been bringing licensed NFT deals to him for a while. Either his side was slow to close the deal, or it took a long time before someone offer him enough money up-front that he was willing to do even this low-effort endorsement.
This is low-effort Trump. (Also, I suspect cognitive decline is making it harder to get coherent script readings from him. He obviously couldn’t even manage to get through a single sentence without issues.) They stuck him in front of a camera, he rambled on for a short bit, and they had to work hard to piece together an endorsement from that which was semi-coherent.
This is the usual Trump modus operandi, though - he licenses out his name for up-front fees, so he’s got assured revenue and doesn’t care if the venture flops (which they mostly do). Almost every business that has had “Trump” in its name more or less worked this way (including most of the buildings that bore his name).
It’s kind of hilarious in this case, as it’s pure grift and no resources were spent putting any of this together, so Trump could have gotten someone on his staff to do this for no cost and the profits would be all his. But I guess he’s learned his lesson, and he won’t enter into any venture where he potentially has any liability and where the money flows in any direction but right towards him only.
Well, he started off his political career that way, so… full circle.

Seems like he was waiting for someone else to do it for him, on terms he liked. I think Melania probably was more directly involved with hers (i.e. one of her staff arranged it). I’m surprised Trump didn’t see the pure profit potential and get more directly involved himself, but I guess licensing out his name and political scams are all he’s good for these days.
