Who's watching the GOP debate tonight?

It seems like a problem for the management in that case.

What if they are the management?

There’s always more managers… The chain is circular. If you hit the top the blame folds-over and lands on the guy at the bottom again.

Talking about work puts me in a mood I can only express by referencing someone else’s video:

It’s musically much more my speed, being an aphex and venetian snares fan. IDM may be unlistenable, but you can’t ever fault it for having a boring rhythm section.

I watched a two minute summary on a British news channel last night (partially by accident, but it was a bit like a car accident, you know, couldn’t look away).

After giving us a tour of the … situation and some of the… views? of the candidates and audience, the camera returns to the UK studio to a news reader looking ever so slightly confused, at which point he states, ā€œWell, as the saying goes, only in America!ā€. I don’t know if there’s ever been so much mainstream crazy that a British news presenter can so comfortable express it, universally to the whole audience.

I guess it is just plain old stupidity, isn’t it? More cognitive dissonance than I could process - but I think in this case that’s a product of stupidity.

If your shooting spree issues don’t prompt a sensible debate about mental healthcare then this should.

Edited to add for clarity: we have enough of our own ignorance over here, so I hope this didn’t come across as holier-than-thou - this just really takes it to the next level. It’s the religion angle I guess - shame they don’t see the parallels with that which they hate the most.

The scary thing is that they are not fringe nutters. They are trying to appeal to 51% of the US population.

I can’t figure out if I’d be relieved by that or just be grimly satisfied.

I think I’d like an apology from those asshats first. For their crimes against the human mind.

Angus Young was still in diapers when Chuck Berry released ā€œRock and Roll Music.ā€

Michigan has open primaries, if you’re not really interested in international travel. Most often I vote against a truly reprehensible republican. (Voted against G-Dub three times!) But there’s something of a real candidate to vote for in the democratic primary. I’ll most likely do that one instead this time.

Donald Trump said exactly one non-insane thing—that a single-payer health care system could work well, as it already has in other countries. It shouldn’t be surprising that this idea got the biggest boos of the night.

Yeahyeahyeahyeahyeah. And I like Aerosmith too. And Muddy Waters and Johnny Winter and Robert Johnson and Memphis Minnie and Steve Earle (not so much Elvis and Buddy Holly). I just don’t think rock and roll is as American as, say, hip hop, blues, and jazz.

Tax exemption status for artists is pretty favourable in Ireland too.

The even scarier thing is that they already DO appeal to approximately 50% of the US population.

Ah, that’s not what Mindy said, though. She didn’t claim that Rock & Roll was an uniquely American form. Rather, the claim was

I know you know this, my guitar-slinging friend, but the R&R hall of fame is on American soil, and the first two slates of inductees were all red-blooded Americans. It wasn’t until the third round that The Beatles got recognized for their role in the British Invasion.

But, no matter! Now I know why you and Daneel get along so well. What amp do you play, a Vox or a Marshall?

Oh, and to keep this on-topic, a salute to our democratic process getting underway!

Heh. I play through a Line 6 these days, modeling either a Marshall or Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier, depending on mood. But my previous amp (which I dearly miss) was a Marshall.

My first amp was a 10-watt Fender, which I loathed from the first time I turned it on.

And the way I think of rock is skewed. I think that America gave it to the Brits, and the Brits gave it to the world.
