He’s been on lactulose for the last few days and it seems to be working fine. Reading up on this online I’ve also heard of adding Metamucil or pumpkin to the animal’s diet. Danny’s not too picky about food so that would probably work. >sigh< I’ll be happier when he’s home but if his muscles were in worse shape than anticipated it sounds like surgery may have been a good call after all. Now he just has to get through the recovery.

I delivered RatBoy the Younger mostly by myself in the waiting alcove at the ER at Kaiser. She was having full-on contractions, and they didn’t have a bed for her in the women’s center. The ER was busy and nobody was paying any attention to us. She went from contractions five minutes apart to crowning in the space of 25 minutes. The OB/GYN resident wandered in just as I was delivering RatBoy’s head. It got kind of busy after that.

And I had to leave our house guests, one of my oldest friends and his husband, behind at our house to do so. I’ve spent the night going back and forth between Googling details on the problem, the surgery, the recovery, and spending time with Danny. He got a bath in preparation for the consult tomorrow–and that was soooo much fun. He hates baths, and grooming. He struggled so much in the sink he broke off a nail.
