I’m always amazed by the number of folks who visit nearly every day, and the amount everyone reads, contributes, and appreciates the responses of others.
I feel privileged to play a role in helping to keep the BBS a civil, constructive place for the community to have discussions. But more than that, I am immensely appreciative that so many of our prolific readers and contributors also participate heavily in helping with moderation as Regulars and Leaders as well.
Thank you all for choosing to spend your time with us, and for helping to foster what I sincerely believe to be one of the best places to hold discussions online. Here’s to 2021, a year which, with any luck, will be a lot more about wonderful things than 2020 was.
Part of what I love about this community is that it reminds of the heyday of blogs when there were a lot of bloggers and blog commenters who cared about their communities, or places like the some of the better private Yahoo groups and usenet newsgroups before them. There’s still some around, like John Scalzi’s Whatever blog, but I’m proud of us for achieving that on a scale that I don’t know if exists anywhere else on the internet. Having an unbroken succession of the best mods we could hope for has been integral.
It really has improved. The squirrelly days that Falcor and Antinous presided over have changed tremendously, as the internet itself has changed. Thank you for keeping the peace and building it better here. It’s a better place now, which is why I came back. And it has made me better behaved, as well
